Do remember me
Do remember me
I'm not as close as I used to be
and I'm not as sure of the things I see
but do remember me
One red rose is all I have
I clutch it in my hands 'til the petals weep
I can't talk to you no more
but I hear you when I speak
Do remember me....
When the fall comes to an end
and the trees are shivering in the naked cold
think of me as once your friend
when the days grow short
and the nights grow old
Do remember me..
And the wage is small for the hours spent
and there's nothing left for a rainy day
It takes so much work to make one small dent
How I wish I knew then what I wish I know today
Do remember me
Do remember me
I'm not as young as I used to be
and I'm not as sure of the things I see
but do remember me
do remember me
do remember me
WORDS AND MUSIC BY COLIN LINDEN-SOCAN-1997
| Artist's Note |
This song came pouring out on a rainy autumn day in Toronto, and resisted making its way to an album for a few years. I think it fits better on this album than it would have on the last one. Brownie McGhee (whom I remember well and miss much) used to say, "I never say goodbye. I only say 'So Long', because Goodbye lasts too long." |
