Moon Follow Me Home

(listen)

I've been feeling nothing, feeling numb
I'm waiting for a smile or a tear to come
I'm no saint I'm just a sinner
I can't be a loser so I must be a winner

I gotta find my way to my back door
I can tell my baby by the way she sings
I've been stumbling in the dark for sure
Oh, moon follow me home
Oh, moon follow me home

I had trouble yes it's true
Way back when I was twenty-two
Flat on my back in a cheap hotel
I was so sick I could not tell

I gotta find my way...

Late last night I heard the call
Police rushing down through the hall
Trouble coming from 306
Restless warrior needing a fix

I gotta find my way...

There's a guy in the back who's half-insane
He keeps on screaming and calling my name
I don't know what I'm supposed to do
When I look in the mirror he's in there too

I gotta find my way....

Artist's Note

The lyric for "Moon Follow Me Home" came on a dark night, riding through Northern Ontario with three truly deranged guys. The music began with Gary Craig and I jamming in the recording studio—just warming up and getting the drum sounds. I married the words and the music after I figured out that they fit. I recorded most of the dumb guitar sounds myself, and then we put the Fairfield Four on the choruses for a little surrealism.
